Travel awards
Three awards help offset the cost of attending ISVCA 2027 in person: the ISVCA Biannual Congress Scientific Award, the TTS ISVCA Congress Scientific Award and the Nakos Travel Award. All three are administered by ISVCA, and all are applied for by email — not through the abstract submission form.
At a glance
The two Congress Scientific Awards are based on the scientific merit of a submitted abstract. The Nakos Travel Award is funded by the generous support of the Nakos family and does not require an abstract.

ISVCA Biannual Congress Scientific Award
ISVCA Biannual Congress Scientific Awards are based on the scientific merit of abstracts received from members who are trainees, allied health professionals and/or residents of emerging economy countries. The awards, not exceeding $1,000/awardee, are intended to help offset expenses associated with attending the Congress and thus disbursement amounts may vary depending on location.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an ISVCA Biannual Congress Scientific Award, applicants must:
- submit at least one abstract as a presenting author.
- be a trainee, Allied Health Professional or resident of an emerging economy country. Trainees must be within two (2) years of completion of their training and/or fellowship or provide proof of residency.
- be a member of ISVCA. If an applicant is not a member of The International Society for Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation, a membership application must be completed on the ISVCA website, www.tts.org/isvca, and accepted for the award application to be reviewed and considered. The membership application must be initiated prior to the Congress abstract submission closure date.
- for trainees, a supporting letter must be submitted as a part of the travel award application. This letter must be signed by the applicant's Training Program Director to verify the applicant's status as a trainee/young investigator. Candidates will not be considered for an award if the required letter is not sent.
- attend in-person the designated award presentation session scheduled during the Congress to receive the award. The applicant must be the presenting author.
Process for bestowing the award
- The award aims to help cover the cost of travel and accommodation during the meeting. Recipients must attend the meeting in order to receive the award. If an awardee is selected for a scientific award but does not attend the meeting, the monies of the award will be forfeited.
- Awardees will be selected from the pool of eligible applicants based upon the abstract's degree of excellence (top score), as determined by the Congress Scientific Program Committee.
- Awards may not exceed a maximum amount of $1,000 USD per awardee. A maximum of five (5) awards will be provided.
- Final selection of recipients will be approved by ISVCA.

Your email must include:
- a short introduction for the use of the grant;
- the applicant's CV; and
- a supporting letter from their institution, if required (see eligibility above).
- It is possible to apply for one, two, or three award categories in the same application. However, only one grant will be given to each applicant.
- The application deadline is November 30, 2026, the same date as the abstract submission deadline.
- Society membership must be initiated prior to the Congress abstract submission closure date.
- Applications without the required supporting letter will not be considered.
- For the two Congress Scientific Awards, the applicant must be the presenting author of the abstract.
The awards are administered by ISVCA, not by the ISVCA 2027 Organizing Committee. Please send applications and award enquiries to ISVCATravelAwards@gmail.com; the Organizing Committee cannot accept or forward applications. For questions about the Congress itself, contact program@isvca2027.org.
